TV Mounting Appointment Checklist: Be Ready Before the Technician Arrives
A confirmed appointment is only one part of a smooth installation. The technician also needs the right equipment, access to the work area, and a clear decision-maker for screen placement. Use this checklist to surface questions early and avoid discovering a missing bracket, building restriction, or scope change at the door.
Confirm what the appointment is meant to include
Read the appointment details and make a list of the finished result you expect. Include the number and approximate size of TVs, whether a soundbar or shelf is part of the job, and whether you want cables routed on the wall or concealed. Ask how any requested add-on or specialty surface affects the scope.
“TV mounting” can describe very different jobs. A standard drywall installation is not the same as work on tile, stone, brick, a fireplace surround, or an exterior wall. Share unusual conditions before the appointment and get the plan confirmed rather than relying on a technician to discover them on arrival.
Gather the TV, bracket, and accessory details
- TV brand and model number, plus the screen size.
- Mount brand and model, if you already have a bracket.
- All hardware, spacers, remote controls, and manufacturer instructions.
- Soundbar, streaming device, game console, or other equipment included in the plan.
- Power and signal cables needed for the agreed setup.
Keep the TV and mount packaging until you know the bracket is compatible and the installation is complete. If an item has not arrived yet, confirm whether it is better to reschedule than to proceed without the needed hardware.
Send useful photos and describe the wall
A wide photo can show the wall, nearby outlets, furniture, and ceiling line in one frame. Add a closer photo of a fireplace, tile, stone, textured surface, or existing wiring. If you know the wall type or have renovation plans, include that information—but do not guess if you are unsure.
Measurements can also help: note the width of the intended wall and the distance from the nearest outlet to the desired TV position. These details help the team discuss cable routing and placement before work begins. For general preparation steps, see the TV wall-mount installation checklist.
Prepare the room and building access
Move fragile items and clear enough space for the technician to work safely. Decide where the main seating is and be ready to approve the screen position before drilling. A quick tape outline of the TV can help the household compare height and placement together.
For an apartment or managed property, confirm drilling permission, service-elevator rules, entry instructions, and parking arrangements in advance. If the person who booked the job will be away, arrange for an authorized adult who can approve placement and scope decisions. Avoid leaving access codes or sensitive account details in an unsecured note.
Plan the final check before the technician leaves
Leave time to view the screen from the seats you actually use and to test the work included in the appointment. For a moving bracket, ask how it should extend, swivel, or tilt. For connected equipment, check the inputs, picture, and audio that are part of the agreed setup.
Keep the service details and any warranty information with your household records. If something is outside the appointment scope, get a clear explanation of the next step instead of assuming it was included. Current availability and the work confirmed for your address should come from the booking details or your local team.
Common questions
- Do I need to be home during a TV mounting appointment?
- The person who can approve the final screen position and any scope decisions should be available. If you cannot attend, arrange an authorized adult and confirm that plan with the local team.
- Should I send photos before the technician arrives?
- Photos are useful when confirming a project: include a wide view of the wall and close-ups of unusual surfaces, outlets, or existing wiring. Use the contact method provided by your local team.
- What if my bracket or TV has not arrived?
- Check the booking details and ask the local team whether the appointment should be moved. Missing or incompatible equipment can change what can be completed during the visit.
